Imran Ashraf Awan (born 11 September 1989, in Peshawar) is a Pakistani actor and writer.[1][2][3] Imran started his acting career in 2011. He gained recognition and critical acclaim for his appearances in Dil Lagi, Alif Allah Aur Insaan, Raqs e Bismil and Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. Imran Ashraf won Best Actor Lux Style Award for playing mentally challenged popular character Bhola in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi.
Early life and education
Imran Ashraf was born on 11 September 1989 in Peshawar. He got his early education in Abbottabad. His father was a banker and family roots in Sialkot. Imran belongs to a simple and non-artistic family, no one from his family belongs to Showbiz. In 2019, he married Kiran Imran. The couple has a son Roham Ashraf.[4][5]
Career
Debut and struggles (2011-2016)
He started his career in 2011 Wafa Kaisi Kahan Ka Ishq in a supporting role. He appeared in several shows in supporting roles but failed to grab attention. He played minor characters in several dramas.
Recognition and critical acclaim (2016-2018)
In 2016 he gained recognition for his performance in Dil Lagi, Gul-e-Rana and Jhoot. He also won the Viewers Choice award for Best Supporting Actor.
Further, in 2017, He gained popularity and critical acclaim for his performance as a transgender in Alif Allah Aur Insaan and won an award at the 6th Hum Awards. In 2018, he wrote drama serial Tabeer and was nominated for the Best writer at 7th Hum Awards.
Breakthrough and stardom (2019)
He rose to fame and went to the peak of his career by playing the role of mentally-challenged Bhola in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. He became a household name after this drama. After Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, he appeared in Inkaar, Jaal, and Rani Nokrani. Then He performed in romantic drama Kahin Deep Jaley, which is a popular drama and was top drama and used to be on trending on No. 1. It is one of the biggest dramas of 2019. He also walked on-ramp as a showstopper for Emraan Rajput.
Commercial success and accolades (2020-present)
In 2020 he worked in Mushk which is written by Imran himself. He played the protagonist alongside Urwa Hocane and Momal Sheikh. Mushk was well received by critics and became a moderate success.
In December 2020, He won Best Actor - Popular award at Lux Style Awards for playing mentally challenged character in blockbuster Ranjha Ranjha kardi.
In 2021,he again rose to fame by playing the character of Moosa in HUM TV's blockbuster Raqs e Bismil alongside Sarah Khan. His performance as Moosa got huge appreciation by audience and critics.Raqs e bismil is by far one of the most popular serial of 2021.
He will also make his film debut in upcoming feature film Dum Mastam alongside Amar Khan. First look of this film was revealed at HumStyle Awards
Imran is once again paired up with Urwa Hocane in GEO TV upcoming serial Badzaat.
Writing
Ashraf's first drama that has been scripted is Tabeer.[6] He has also written another script for HUM TV called Mushq which stars Urwa Hocane opposite Ashraf himself in lead role.[7] Mushk gained a lot of appreciation by audience as well as critics. Imran Ashraf was praised for his excellent writing and characterizations.People also loved Imran Ashraf and Urwa Hocane's onscreen chemistry as Adam and Guddi.
